FROM TRAVERSE CITY
SHORT DAYS
Day 1 Sutton’s Bay with a stop over at Power Island along the way.
Power Island is a mostly uninhabited state park with great hiking. The ranger and his family have the single house on the island. You will need a dinghy to go ashore.
Sutton’s Bay offers marina and a well-protected anchorage. This quaint little town has a great selection of restaurants, shops and boutiques for browsing.
Day 2 Bowers Harbor – Anchor only. Bowers Harbor Marina is private only, with no transient docking. You will need a dinghy to go ashore. Bowers Harbor Vineyard is a short hike from the boat launch.
Day 3 Back to Traverse City – Have a leisurely breakfast on board, go for a swim or hike and take your time sailing back to Traverse City.
POWER ISLAND

MODERATE DAYS
Day 1 Sutton’s Bay – Sutton’s Bay offers marina and a well-protected anchorage. This quaint little town has a great selection of restaurants, shops and boutiques for browsing.
Day 2 Northport – The Village of Northport is a quiet town with several restaurant options and a few great bakeries and coffee shops. Take advantage of the amenities at their full-service marina or anchor off the pristine shoreline of Northport Bay.
Day 3 Return to Traverse City.
NORTHPORT

OFF THE GRID OPTION
Day 1 Bowers Harbor – Anchor only. Bowers Harbor Marina is private only, with no transient docking. You will need a dinghy to go ashore. Bowers Harbor Vineyard is a short hike from the boat launch.
Day 2 Omena Bay – Omena Bay is a pristine setting on the Leelanau Peninsula. You’ll find a fun restaurant on the water with an adjacent wine tasting room. There is no marina in Omena Bay so you’ll have to dinghy in to shore.

OMENA

FROM BAY HARBOR
SHORT DAYS
Day 1 Petoskey – Petoskey has one of the best waterfront parks by the marina and a hiking trail that follows the river which is accessible from the marina also.
Day 2 Harbor Springs – Harbor Springs has a perfect natural harbor for anchoring and a great boating scene with marina options.
Day 3 Back to Bay Harbor – Have a leisurely breakfast on board, go for a swim or hike and take your time sailing back to Bay Harbor.
HARBOR SPRINGS

MODERATE DAYS
Day 1 Beaver Island – Anchor out or reserve a slip in the marina. The island is the most remote inhabited island on the Great Lakes. Rent a bike or car and explore this 6-mile wide by 13-mile long island, the largest in the archipelagos chain.
Day 2 Charlevoix – Head for the storybook town of Charlevoix. Truly a unique setting; a short channel runs through Charlevoix which connects Lake Michigan to Round Lake. Another short channel connects Round Lake to Lake Charlevoix which opens up many more cruising opportunities. Great live music and restaurants abound in Charlevoix. Anchor Out – Charlevoix offers Round Lake right outside the village which makes for a well protected anchorage.
Day 3 Return to Bay Harbor.
CHARLEVOIX

OFF THE GRID OPTION
Day 1 Beaver Island anchorage or marina –Discover the “Irish Island”. The island is the most remote inhabited island on the Great Lakes. With a population of 600 year round, Beaver Island has history that would surprise most. The only “Kingdom” established in the United States in the late 1800s, Beaver Island is sure to leave an impression on you. Rent a bike or car and explore this 6-mile wide by 13-mile long island, the largest in the archipelagos chain.
Day 2 Garden Island / High Island anchorage – Garden Island is an uninhabited 4990 acre island owned by the State of Michigan. There is a natural cove on the west end of Garden Island that provides shelter and a small island in the middle. High Island boasts a nice bay for anchoring close to a long sweep of sandy beach. Both are excellent for exploring and swimming.
Day 3 Back to Bay Harbor.
